We love to meet new people. We treat our guests like part of our family. We are a home away from home.

Our Story

I Am Here was founded by two mothers whose sons had experienced the trauma of an ABI. Through contact with others in the same situation, they came to see the need for a place that gave carers and their loved ones a real break, an opportunity to rejuvenate.

The original house was established in 1996 as Hunter Brain Injury Respite Options (HunterBIRO). Through the tireless efforts of the committee, volunteers and caring professionals, the house has established a reputation as a special place for guests and their carers.

The name change to I Am Here inn 2016 marked an exciting next step in the evolution of the service. The establishment of our wonderdul sensory garden has created a unique, calming resort environment for guests, and plans are well underway to expand the service's capacity to include new day programs.
